Scottie Scheffler’s 2024 arrest came in handy for Nike after the golfer’s PGA Championship win this week.
Scheffler was apprehended by police while trying to get to the Valhalla Golf Club for the very tournament last year, something which has come full circle as he’s gone on to win the tournament 12 months later.
The 28-year-old overcame final-round jitters to capture the championship, the third major win of his career, before kissing his wife and holding their one-year-old son.
Nike, which sponsors the player, did not waste any time putting an ad together, posting a photo of Scheffler swinging along with the words, “Best player in the world? Guilty.”
They added, “The verdict is in. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is the PGA Champion” as the caption, posting the photo to X.

Scottie Scheffler Did Just About Enough

Scottie Scheffler encountered some difficulty on his way to the venue before the second round of last year’s tournament. He was accused of dragging a policeman with his vehicle after ignoring orders and refusing to stop.
The officer, Detective Bryan Gillis, claimed to have gotten his pants torn, while he also sustained some minor cuts and bruises.
Scheffler was placed in handcuffs and booked on four criminal charges, which were eventually dropped.
He began this year’s PGA Championship with a two-under 69 before hitting 68 in the second round and then opened up a three-shot lead with a six-under lead on Saturday.
The current world No. 1 was even on Sunday but was able to get over the line, with Jon Rahm shooting two-over to tie for eighth place and help Nike pull their post out of the drafts.
