The good news for players is that the course and practice facilities remained open for them.
According to AccuWeather, showers and a heavier thunderstorm are expected this afternoon for the start of the PGA Championship.
Quail Hollow is familiar to most of the 156-man field, having hosted the PGA Tour every year since 2003.

According to the weather forecast by Accuweather for Charlotte, North Carolina, Quail Hollow Club should see a 99 percent chance of rain. The forecast is so bad that fans are not allowed to attend.
In the meantime, the 2025 PGA Championship, the second major of the year, has its favorites for who will win.
Two players have dominated betting odds at PGA Tour events this year, and they’ve also topped the Official World Golf Ranking all season: Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
The World No. 1 and 2 are once again first and second in pre-tournament PGA Championship odds to start the week at Quail Hollow.
Scheffler is the betting favorite for the PGA, with +400 odds-to-win. McIlroy comes in a close second behind Scheffler with +450 odds-to-win the year’s second major.
