Phil Mickelson called out the Department of Justice on social media after the PGA suspended Wesley Bryan for competing in a LIV Golf tournament.
As first reported by Monday Q, Wesley Bryan was informed by the PGA that he was suspended indefinitely for competing in “The Duels: Miami”, a LIV Golf event. Bryan told Monday Q that the PGA Tour hasn’t told him how long the suspension is, but he won’t rule out appealing the ban.
Phil Mickelson, one of LIV Golf’s first blockbuster signings, defended Bryan and called out the DOJ in a scathing X/Twitter post. Mickelson called for the department to “step in and enforce the law,” and to “do your fffing job.”
Here’s a question.

Normally when an entity violates independent contract law, they deny that it happened and forces the contractor/individual to prove that it did. In this case the PGA Tour blatantly admits they are illegally banning an independent contractor so why doesn’t… https://t.co/hR0OgJbbSH
The 35-year-old Bryan turned pro in 2012 after attending the University of South Carolina. He has won four tournaments as a pro, including the 2017 RBC Heritage with an impressive score of 13-under.
Despite being critical of the human rights violations in Saudi Arabia, Phil Mickelson agreed to join LIV Golf on a lucrative $200 million contract. In contrast, LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman stated that Tiger Woods turned down a mammoth offer to in the $700-800 million range.
LIV Golf has also recruited other previous PGA Tour household names like Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Martin Kaymer, Brooks Koepka and Cameron Smith.

Phil Mickelson Looks To Complete Career Grand Slam At 2025 U.S. Open

Mickelson is a six-time major winner, highlighted by victories at The Masters in 2004, 2006 and 2010. “Lefty” also won the PGA Championship in 2005 and 2021 and The Open/British Open in 2013.
If Mickelson can win the 2025 U.S. Open, he’ll become the seventh male golfer to win the grand slam. Rory McIlroy just joined that group after winning The 2025 Masters over Justin Rose in a playoff hole.
