As one of the most accomplished and decorated golfers of all time, we shouldn’t be surprised by anything Phil Mickelson does on the greens. But his jaw-dropping hole-out shot during today’s LIV Golf Virginia event was truly something else.
The 55-year-old Phil Mickelson finished in a tie for fourth at LIV Golf Virginia this weekend with a score of 13-under. The tournament was held at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville and carried a $25 million purse.
Joaquín Niemann finished first by a wide margin with a score of 19-under, five shots ahead of Graeme McDowell and Anirban Lahiri, who tied for second at 14-under.
Mickelson didn’t quite emerge victorious, but he hit the shot of the day with his unbelievable hole-out while standing in a greenside bunker. Ladies and gentlemen, the signature Phil Mickelson flop shot:

“Lefty” is a six-time major winner, taking home the Masters title in 2004, 2006 and 2010, the PGA Championship in 2005 and 2021 and the 2013 British Open. Incredibly, he’s finished second (or tied for second) in the U.S. Open six times, falling just short of the golf grand slam.
