A member of the Augusta National Golf Club got the opportunity to tee it up with the world’s best golfers during the 2025 Masters.
Michael McDermott, the CEO of Kathmere Capital Management, was asked to tee off with Tom Kim in round three of the 2025 Masters on Saturday. The 48-year-old McDermott is a member of the Augusta National Golf Club, which hosts the Masters annually.
As noted by Golf Monthly, tournament officials needed McDermott to step in and play with Kim, since an odd number of golfers made the weekend cut. The top 50 golfers, including ties, qualify for the final two rounds.
This year, 53 players made the second round of the 2025. Since they tee off in groups of two over the final two rounds, Tom Kim needed a partner, allowing McDermott to participate in the special opportunity:
For the 2nd year, Michael McDermott will play as the official Masters “Marker” with Tom Kim at 950am.

McDermott also played at the 2023 Masters, as the field also had just 53 players for the final two rounds, Golf Monthly pointed out.

It should be noted that McDermott’s score at the 2025 Masters won’t officially count on the leaderboard. But hey, it’s not every day you’re asked to play during the world’s biggest golfing event with the best in the world.
The Race For The 2025 Masters Is Razor-Thin

Justin Rose was the clubhouse leader heading into Saturday’s action, but Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau quickly jumped ahead of him today. Corey Conners is also in the mix, looking to become just the second Canadian male golfer to win a major, a feat first accomplished by Mike Weir in 2003.
