When Rory McIlroy made his putt to win the green jacket on Sunday, caddie Harry Diamond was awarded a life-changing payday.
The 35-year-old Northern Irishman defeated Justin Rose in a tiebreaker hole on Sunday to win the Masters for the first time in his illustrious career, finally ending over a decade of close calls at Augusta.
Rory McIlroy overcame an awful collapse on the back nine to defeat Justin Rose in the first playoff hole, making a birdie to finally secure the green jacket. Both men finished 11-under to force the sudden death playoff.
McIlroy’s victory also means a six-figure prize cut for Diamond, too.
As noted by Jack Johnson of talkSPORT, the caddie of the Masters winner usually gets 10 percent of their prize money. With Rory McIlroy earning $4.2 million for his victory at Augusta, Diamond will receive a lucrative $420,000 paycheck.
Johnson also pointed out that 2024 Masters champion Scottie Scheffler won $3.6 million in prize money at last year’s tournament, meaning caddie Ted Scott received $360,000. What can we say? Raise your kids to be caddies for the world’s best golfers.

With his victory at the 2025 Masters, McIlroy became just the sixth male golfer to win each of the six major tournaments (Masters, The Open, US Open and PGA Championship), joining Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen.
It had been an awfully long wait for Rory, who hadn’t won a major since 2014. He had so many close calls at Augusta, but fell short time and time again to the point where it felt like he would never get his hands on the green jacket.
But with the green jacket now in his trophy room, McIlroy has cemented his legacy as one of the all-time greats. Anything he accomplishes from here on out is just gravy.
