Golf fans are ripping on Bryson DeChambeau for his comments to reporters about Rory McIlroy following the latter’s thrilling victory at the 2025 Masters.
After years of gut-wrenching losses at Augusta, the 35-year-old Rory McIlroy finally emerged victorious to win his first green jacket. McIlroy shot 11-under and defeated Justin Rose in the first playoff hole, notching a birdie to complete the golf grand slam.
Bryson DeChambeau entered the final round two shots (10-under) behind McIlroy, but “The Scientist” limped to a disappointing score of 75 on Sunday to finish seven-under, tied for fifth on the final leaderboard.
Speaking to reporters after the 2025 Masters, DeChambeau was asked how McIlroy was feeling in the clubhouse. DeChambeau, however, threw some shade at McIlroy with some visible frustration.
“No idea, (Rory) didn’t talk to me once all day,” DeChambeau said. “He wouldn’t talk to me.”

Indeed, Tiger Woods was known for not talking to his fellow golfers during tournaments. And for Rory McIlroy, staying laser-focused and not talking to his competitors obviously worked out perfectly.
Bryson DeChambeau Might Have Issues With Rory McIlroy’s Past Comments About LIV Golfers
McIlroy has been a vocal critic of the ex-PGA players who left the tour for LIV Golf (that list includes DeChambeau), so maybe that played a factor in Bryson DeChambeau’s comments after The Masters. We’ll see if the new golf grand slam member responds to DeChambeau’s comments.
