Social media had a field day poking fun at reigning Masters champion Scottie Scheffler after a hilarious moment during the second round of the 2025 Masters on Friday.
Scheffler is sitting at five-under heading into the weekend, tied for fifth with Tyrrell Hatton, Matt McCarty and Shane Lowry. Justin Rose sits atop the leaderboard at eight-under, with Bryson DeChambeau one shot behind him (seven-under). Corey Conners and Rory McIlroy are tied for third at six-under.
Aside from Scheffler’s all-world play on the grand stage, however, he also made headlines on Friday when his ball got stuck in the trees. Scheffler sat down on the ground for several moments to ponder his next move, leading to all sorts of hilarious responses on social media:

Scheffler was four under in the opening round on Thursday, but he shot just one-under (71) on the par-72 course. The 28-year-old uncharacteristically put up five bogeys, including two on the final three holes.
But we’re only halfway through the tournament, and there’s plenty of time for the world’s No. 1 golfer to close the gap with Rose. As great as the latter has played through two rounds, he still has to prove that he can handle the pressure down the stretch.
Scottie Scheffler Looks To Join Exclusive Masters Winners Club

Scheffler was victorious in the 2022 and 2024 Masters Tournaments. If he wins a third green jacket on Sunday, Scheffler will become the ninth golfer to win the Masters at least three times.
Jack Nicklaus is the all-time leader in Masters victories with six, followed by Tiger Woods’ five. Arnold Palmer won four, with Jimmy Demaret, Phil Mickelson, Gary Player, Nick Faldo and Sam Snead all winning three.
