Before you go out and buy that “World’s Greatest Dad” mug, think hard about whether or not that title even fits. GOAT Pro-golfer Tiger Woods is the father of two children, who are both on their way to becoming future athletes in their own right. After all, if your dad’s net worth exceeded $700 million, you could afford some pretty good coaching.
All things considered, Tiger Wood’s children have kept out of the spotlight, and seem to live private lives. Their names are Sam Alexis Woods and Charlie Axel Woods.

Sam Alexis Woods
Sam is Tiger Woods’ daughter and his oldest child. She was born on June 8th, 2007. Her mother is Tiger’s ex-wife, Elin Nordegren.
Her birth was almost like a prize for her father, who competed in the 2007 US open on June 7th, 2007, where he was first runner-up. Twenty-four hours later, he would become a father for the first time.
It’s not insignificant that little Sam Woods was also born the day after Father’s Day because “Sam” is actually something of a family name. Tiger’s full name is Eldrick Tont Woods, but his dad has always called him Sam. When it came time to name his firstborn, the lifelong nickname seemed like a fitting and playful choice to honor his father.
Tiger and Elin share custody of both of their children, including Sam. There is no love lost between the couple, who continue to co-parent their children, supporting them in different ways. In fact, Tiger sees his children almost every day.
Does Sam Play Golf?
Although both of the Tiger Woods Kids are athletes, Sam isn’t interested in golf. While she has served as a caddy a few times, her true passion in life is soccer, and she’s very good at it.
While Tiger isn’t a soccer star himself, he’s incredibly supportive of his daughter and attends her games and practices regularly. Sam is a huge fan of the U.S. Women’s National soccer team, and they often bond by attending games together. Tiger has expressed his joy overseeing his daughter learn to love sports and enjoys kicking a ball around with both of his children when he’s not on the golf course.
When not chasing after a soccer ball, you can find Sam chasing after her dogs, Bugs, and Lola. She is an active, talented animal lover, and we can’t wait to see where she will end up in the future!
Charlie Axel Woods
Charlie Axel Woods is Sam’s younger brother, born on February 8th, 2009. He and Sam have the same mother and father, Tiger and Elin. His parents divorced in 2010, meaning that Charlie Axel has lived most of his life as a child of divorce.
Does Charlie Play Golf?
Charlie remained out of the spotlight until December of 2020, when he competed in the PNC Championship with his Dad at the age of eleven years old. Charlie was the youngest player ever to compete in the tournament, in which professionals choose a family member to play with. Most choose an adult, but Tiger knew that his son was ready for the challenge.
The goal was to have a good time, and that goal was more than accomplished. The duo came in seventh place out of twenty pairs. That’s not bad at all, considering that little Charlie was the only middle-schooler on the course.
Before the PNC Championship, it wasn’t clear that either of Tiger Wood’s Children took after their dad. While Sam has decided to stick with soccer, Charlie is on his way to following in his father’s footsteps. Most agree that Charlie Axel shows a lot of promise and that he’s on his way to becoming a force to be reckoned with
After all, the PNC Championship was no his first time on the green. He has won several junior tournaments since he began playing seriously, including a recent tournament in which he dominated by five strokes. Not only did Tiger Woods attend – he was his son’s caddy!
While he’s definitely supportive, Tiger is open to the idea that his son might find other passions rather than walking directly in his dad’s footsteps. It’s still not clear whether this will stay a hobby or become the start of a professional athletic career. Time will tell but, in the meantime, Charlie Axel Woods is a name to remember!
What’s Next for Tiger Wood’s Children?
Although Sam and Charlie’s parents divorced over a decade ago, they all remain a loving family.
Since 2017, Tiger has been dating girlfriend Erica Herman, who runs his restaurant. Erica is also close with the children and we have seen her supervising Sam and Charlie at a variety of tournaments and events. Tiger and Erica have not announced plans to marry, so it’s unclear whether she will become a stepmother anytime soon.
In the meantime, Tiger continues to support and encourage his children. This is even despite injuries sustained during his car accident in February of 2021, which lead to severe injuries in his legs. His two children have been at his side almost daily as he has gone through rehab.
The Next Tiger Woods?
Tiger has a long road ahead of him, and it will likely be some time before he returns to his former glory. Even so, he’s grateful to have two fantastic kids to focus on. Who knows – maybe one of Tiger Wood’s Children will become… the next Tiger Woods?
