Golf legend Tiger Woods made a surprise appearance at the White House in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, attending the Black History Month Reception hosted by President Donald Trump.
Woods was there along with another golfer, Adam Scott, and PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan, and all of them met with officials to discuss the ongoing negotiations between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.
The tours are coming to terms over a merger. Scott and Monahan met with Trump to that end earlier this month and were both introduced on Thursday.
Woods, who has played lots of golf with Trump, was also introduced and invited to say a few words.
“Let me ask you, is there anybody like our Tiger?” Trump asked before calling on him to speak.
Woods, who wore the Presidential Medal of Freedom Trump awarded him in 2019, was hesitant. But he acquiesced after the crowd began chanting his name.

“It’s an honor to be here with you Mr. President and to be honored here with all of you. Thank you so much,” he said.
Tiger Woods And Donald Trump Share A Close Friendship

Woods and Trump have been close friends for close to 30 years and, as mentioned above, have spent a lot of time on the course in each other’s company.
They golfed together in Florida on February 9, just days after the golfer’s mother, Kutilda Woods, passed away on February 4.
Tiger Woods did not participate in his annual Genesis Invitational in California after his mother’s death. He has yet to announce when he will return to the PGA Tour.
Trump also announced on Thursday that he will have a statue of Kobe Bryant built in the National Garden of American Heroes. Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, Jackie Robinson, Martin Luther King Jr., and Muhammad Ali will all be similarly honored.
