United States President Donald Trump had the perfect answer for an ABC reporter, using a golf reference that he may or may not have made up after being questioned about his plans to accept a jet from Qatar.
Trump is entirely open to taking the luxury aircraft from the country’s royal family, which has sparked some controversy. There are concerns over the legality, especially given that the plane would be the largest foreign gift ever received by the American government.
According to reports, the President plans to use the $400 million Boeing 747-8 as Air Force One… for now.
Asked “What do you say to people who view that luxury jet as a personal gift to you?” by an ABC News reporter this week, Trump called her out for working for a “fake news” network and suggested that she should be embarrassed for asking such a question.
He went on to use a quote he says came from golf icon Sam Snead.
“When they give you a putt, you pick it up and you walk to the next hole and say thank you,” he said.

Donald Trump Cleared To Accept Luxury Jet From Qatar
There are questions over whether Snead ever said this, but that’s neither here nor there.
Meanwhile, a senior official in the Department of Justice has told NBC News that a memo prepared by the DOJ and approved by Attorney General Pam Bondi clears the Department of Defense to accept the jet from the Qatar Royal family.
The plane is expected to be transferred to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation once he leaves office.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said she wasn’t worried about Qatar expecting something in return for the plane, as the country is well aware that Trump “only works with the interests of the American public in mind.”
