Cameras caught a PGA Championship volunteer going the extra mile to retrieve a piece of Rory McIlroy memorabilia during the final round on Sunday.
The reigning Masters champion had a forgettable performance over four days at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. Rory McIlroy finished the weekend three-over, placing him in a tie for 47th.
On the bright side, McIlroy (inadvertently) helped a PGA Championship volunteer pick up the souvenir of a lifetime thanks to an errant shot during the final round.
According to Kyle Porter of Normal Sport, a tournament volunteer approached the water on hole 14 to pick up the golf ball that McIlroy hit into the water. He recorded a bogey on the par-four hole and finished his fourth round one-over.
Here’s the fan acquiring the golf ball Happy Gilmore style. Thankfully, no alligators were present to pose a threat to the volunteer:

Scottie Scheffler went on to win the 2025 PGA Championship with an impressive score of eleven-under, five shots ahead of Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English and Davis Riley, who finished in a tie for second.
