There have been so many iconic jerseys in sports history that the exceptionally bad ones can sometimes be forgotten about.
In the NFL, the Steelers wear bumblebee jerseys, and in the NBA, the Sacramento Kings wear an all-gold jersey and shorts.
Of course, MLB is one of the longest-standing professional sports leagues in America, and because of that, it is bound to occasionally miss a uniform.
Today we will examine the ten ugliest MLB uniforms of all time.
Does your favorite MLB team sport an ugly uniform that you want them to stop wearing it?
Los Angeles Dodgers City Connect

The City Connect jerseys that have been rolling out since 2021 have been a mix of good and bad. Some have already turned into classics like the Washington Nationals cherry blossom jerseys, but the same can’t be said for the Dodgers.
It was certainly a bad choice to go with the same blue on the pants with the jerseys and they just feel so similar to their current uniforms. Not much of a design change was made except for a minor color difference and words.

Chicago White Sox (1976 – 1981)

The uniforms look like they come straight from the 1800s. In no world should any baseball team’s uniforms have a collar on them. I don’t think players were rushing to a fancy dinner right after the game with no time to change.
What makes this even worse is that in the 1976 MLB season, the White Sox wore these ugly uniforms while also wearing shorts. But hey, they went 2-1 in those three games with the shorts, so maybe Chicago needs to bring them back.
San Diego Padres (1972 – 1973)

Matching your jersey with your pants is always a bit of a risk. There are certain teams that can certainly pull it off, but it all depends on the color scheme. Someone must have given the Padres bad advice because that color scheme doesn’t include brown and yellow.
The brown and gold the Padres currently wear are much more appealing to the eye than what they tried with these uniforms in the 1970s.

San Francisco Giants City Connect

The Giants are yet another victim of the City Connect jerseys. Unlike the Dodgers, theirs makes the list because there is almost too much going on, and it doesn’t flow well. Their intentions of incorporating the Golden Gate Bridge do seem nice, but they just didn’t do it correctly here. Also, teams really need to try staying away from using gradients when they’re working on new designs.
El Paso Chihuahuas Spongebob Uniforms

They aren’t an MLB-level team but this uniform is just hilarious and downright ugly. On June 11, 2022, the Chihuahuas hosted a Nickelodeon Nights. That included these amazing Spongebob-themed uniforms worn by all the players. There may have been nothing better than seeing 39-year-old Robinson Cano dressed up like Spongebob.
Pittsburgh Pirates City Connect

Whoever made these jerseys must have been on a serious time crunch because they are just plain lazy. You know it’s bad if you squint your eyes and can convince yourself that they could be the Pirate’s regular uniforms. It’s especially disappointing because we have seen some teams take a big leap with their jerseys and do great, but that certainly wasn’t the Pirates.
Kansas City Royals Turn Ahead the Clock

There were a lot of unique designs when MLB had the team create new jerseys for the “Turn Ahead the Clock” promotion. The ugliest out of all of them was the Royals’ MLB uniform. The predominant yellow just did not clash well with the Royals blue and nothing was worse than the gold helmets they had their batters using. The jersey itself just felt like a huge eyesore and we can all be thankful the design team was not able to predict what future uniforms would look like.
Philadelphia Phillies City Connect

The Phillies are the latest team to unveil their City Connect uniforms. They do have nice hats that show off the Liberty Bell, which is exactly the kind of thing these uniforms should be doing, but the rest is bad. They made a big mistake when they included a gradient in a jersey. It’s an aspect that is just hard to make look good, and the Phillies didn’t pull it off with this one.
Pittsburgh Pirates Turn Ahead the Clock

The Pirates might need to be banned from making alternate uniforms because just like the City Connect jerseys their version of turn ahead the clock was not good. It looks like the designer pretty much just looked up the alternate logo pasted it right onto the jersey and did nothing else. Much like the Royal’s attempt at this campaign, we can all be lucky we won’t be seeing jerseys like this any time soon.
Philadelphia Phillies Saturday Night Special

This ugly uniform is somehow super plain yet still too much, even for an MLB team. They would work so much better if they decided to run with the red tops with white pants. That’s just too much red to wear at once. There also must have been a tight budget when it came to adding any type of design to these jerseys because there is nothing on the entire jersey except the logo and number.
