
A lucky sports fan might have hit the jackpot with a book that may contain the autograph of baseball legend Honus Wagner.
Reddit user MagicianHappy7098 shared images of a 1948 Pittsburgh Pirates book they purchased for just $1.59 at a Goodwill store. But if fortune really does favor the bold, the lucky buyer will have hit a grand slam with this purchase.
As you can see in the image below, one of the pages in the book contains Honus Wagner’s autograph. We’re not sure if it’s the real deal or a forged signature, but MagicianHappy7098 might as well get it checked out.
After all, there’s nothing to lose when you’ve purchased the book for only $1.59.

Though Wagner was among the best baseball players of his era more than a century ago, most fans know his name because of the iconic T206 Honus Wagner baseball card. The card was manufactured between 1909 and 1911, but no more than 200 copies of it were made.

In 2022, one of the T206 Honus Wagner cards sold at auction for $7.25 million. One year earlier, a copy of the same card sold for $6.6 million.
Honus Wagner Is A Pirates Icon

Wagner played for the Pirates from 1900 to 1917, spending the latter season as their manager as well. He won eight National League batting titles and led the league in stolen bases five times.
Wagner also led the Pirates to a World Series championship in 1909, defeating the Detroit Tigers in a thrilling seven-game series. Wagner retired with 3,420 hits, 101 homers and a .328 batting average.
