New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge delivered a powerful statement both on and off the field after Hunter Dobbins’ bold comment. Dobbins has been in the headlines after saying he would never play for the Yankees, even if they were the last team to give him a contract.
The Red Sox pitcher’s comment surprised many, especially since it came from a rookie. The Yankees have been criticized for various reasons by several players in the past. However, the criticism came from players who achieved huge goals, or at least it came from recognized players.
Dobbins is a rookie, and his performance has not been exceptional. That said, many called out the pitcher for his bold comment on the franchise that won the most World Series titles.
Aaron Judge dropped the perfect response to Dobbins by naming legendary player Ken Griffey as an example. When asked about Dobbins’ comments, Judge responded as follows.
“I really didn’t hear about it until Eduardo Pérez told me before the game. I’ve only heard Ken Griffey say that, so I was a little surprised,” Judge said.
When asked if Dobbins’ comments were in his head during the first inning, Judge responded:
“Once somebody tells you, yeah.”

Aaron Judge Takes Hunter Dobbins Deep In The First Inning

As the captain said, Dobbins’ comments were in his head while stepping up to the plate. The All-Star never hesitated as he cranked a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. It was Judge’s 27th first-inning home run since the start of last season.
The Yankees captain continues to create history with a strong performance this year. The slugger has 23 home runs already, and he’s tied with Shohei Ohtani. Aaron Judge leads the league with a strong .396 batting average.
He also had a strong .493 OBP and 1.264 OPS. It was natural for the captain to highlight Dobbins’ comment. Yankees manager Aaron Boone reacted to Dobbins’ comment as well.
