It’s rare to hear Yankees captain Aaron Judge express admiration for a new player. Judge is an exceptional star, and receiving praise from one of the best sluggers in the league is a huge compliment. The Yanks are experimenting with spring training by testing out their prospects.
In their last few games, their future players have shown promise. Spencer Jones was one to garner attention during spring training. However, Yankees fans have their eyes set on George Lombard Jr. The rising star performed incredibly against the Phillies in their last game.
Lombard went deep from the plate against veteran pitcher Zack Wheeler. The talented player was a first-round pick in 2023. A day ago, Lombard smashed a homer against the Pirates and has Aaron Judge impressed. Judge mentioned that Lombard is a combination of three Yankees stars.
“The tools are all there. I saw him take ground balls on Field 2 and he had an infield of Jazz [Chisholm Jr.], [Anthony] Volpe and Ben Rice. [Lombard] was smooth and athletic at third base. I know he’s a shortstop, but watching him at different spots, I’m excited for the future,” Judge said.

It’s unsure if Lombard will play for the Yanks this season. The good news is that they have a strong slugger ready to step up when needed.
Aaron Judge Looks Forward To A Strong 2025 Season After Failures
Judge recently reflected on the team’s struggles in the last two years. The Yankees failed to make the playoffs in 2023, and their World Series run last season was a disaster. The Yankees captain is waiting to get back in the race for a strong season this year.

“2023 left a bad taste in everybody’s mouth, especially not even making the postseason for the first time, and then, you know, going all the way to the dance and not finishing the job definitely left an even worst taste,” Judge said.

Aaron Judge is keen on having another MVP season without Juan Soto on the team. However, the Yankees are dealing with several injured players. Many believe that the Yankees are also an overrated team.
