The Baltimore Orioles are not having a good start to the 2025 MLB season. The team is dealing with several injured players, and many have yet to return. The most difficult part for the Orioles is their rotation depth. Zach Eflin, Grayson Rodriguez, Trevor Rogers, Tyler Wells, and Kyle Bradish are placed on the IL, leaving the O’s with a handful of pitchers.
Baltimore is currently at the bottom of the AL East division with a 5-8 record. They are struggling to make ends meet without a proper pitching rotation. That said, the team could place one of their top prospects on the trade block to address the current situation.
It’s hard for the Orioles to wait until their pitchers return. At the same time, they might not be able to make a move right now. According to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, Coby Mayo is the perfect candidate to be placed on the trade block.
“Coby Mayo’s a player, a prospect top 100 guy that you could still build a package around for any pitcher that might be available at the deadline. You can’t just win with young players and you can’t hold back when you have a clear need an opportunity to make some noise. Mayo is going to be the next interesting test case for them, whether they hold him or not,” Rosenthal said.

Baltimore Orioles Face Humiliating Loss Against The Arizona Diamondbacks

The O’s have struggled immensely this season. At this rate, it’s hard to see them make the playoffs. Baltimore has an unbalanced team, as they lost against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The team’s offense went dead as the D’backs smashed nine runs.

Again, it’s the pitching that has been a huge disappointment. The O’s must focus on bringing in a couple of pitchers to help them win. As Rosenthal says, it’s had to win with only young players. They need a couple of veterans to help guide the team. The Orioles will turn in Komoyuki Sugano as their starter in Game 1 against the Blue Jays. This MLB season will be a tough battle for the team.
Apart from rumors swirling around the O’s, the Cubs are also looking to extend newly acquired Kyle Tucker.
