The New York Mets almost immediately declined Chris Russo’s request to interview team players, and the Mad Dog does not like this.
Recently, Russo went on an 18-minute non-stop rant against the Mets for neglecting his son Colin during a recent attempt to conduct player interviews. The team management cited that none of the players had time off of their schedule, and the interview couldn’t take place.
Finding himself furious at the situation, Russo Sr. took his frustration to his SiriusXM show, Mad Dog Unleashed, and blasted the NY team with all his heart.
“Oh go to hell, their schedules are full for the rest of the day… You are talking to me, who has been at spring training sites for 50 years. Don’t give me any nonsense that you can’t figure out a way to get Paul Blackburn or the backup infielder. Nobody is asking for Alonso, Lindor, or Soto,” Chris said during the episode.
Mad Dog Russo went OFF on the Mets for over 18 minutes (!!!) for refusing to provide a single player or team representative for his son Colin to interview.

However, while the situation is understandable, someone of Russo’s stature ranting about his son getting declined an interview is something that does not fit quite right. He has been a continuous critic of the NBA superstar LeBron James and his son Bronny.
According to him, it was LeBron’s push that landed his son on the Lakers roster, and nepotism was at play during the whole thing.

The Mets Are Settling Around Their Superstar Signing
Though the Mets have a tight schedule for spring training, their superstar signee is already settling the team, according to him. The Mets fans are embracing superstar slugger Juan Soto, who has quickly integrated into the team despite only being with them for a short period.
Social media has exploded with posts of Soto sharing laughs and jokes with his new teammates. However, Soto’s performance during spring training has been impressive. He has a .357 batting average, 1.295 OPS, 4 home runs, and 8 RBIs in just 28 at-bats, affirming that he has no regrets about joining the Mets through free agency.
A recent story shared by The Athletic’s Will Sammon on SNY noted Soto’s influence within the team. During a batting practice session with fellow players Brandon Nimmo, Pete Alonso, and Francisco Lindor, Soto stepped up and engaged the group.
“In February, it was an early batting practice, it was Brandon Nimmo, Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, and Francisco Lindor. That’s a star-studded group, but it was batting practice. So they were working on direction hitting… it was boring, it was a snooze fest. And Juan Soto, toward the end of it, said ‘This is boring guys.’ He calls out ‘Last round, everybody work on your line drives,’” Sammon said as per SNY.

Sammon also noted that Soto appears relaxed and free, no longer playing for a lucrative contract, and feels secure with the Mets for the long haul.
