The Colorado Rockies are having one of the worst seasons ever, and things are not going to get any better at this pace. The team’s 2025 campaign has been disastrous, marked by a 7-33 start. It was the second-worst 40-game start in Major League Baseball history and the worst since 1988.
Their dismal performance led to the firing of longtime manager Bud Black and bench coach Mike Redmond. The franchise holds the worst record in the MLB as they are 17-60 this season. At this pace, fans are looking at another 2024 White Sox repeat. However, the team’s Owner/General Partner Dick Monfort has stepped forward with a candid and urgent message to the Colorado Rockies’ loyal fanbase.
“I think we need a new set of eyeballs. We need to give someone the opportunity. Someone who knows baseball and has lived and breathed baseball,” Charlie Monfort said.
Charlie Monfort, brother of Rockies owner and CEO Dick Monfort, sat down with The Denver Post and commented on the current state of the Rockies organization.

Monfort knows the team’s struggles and understands that change is needed. It’s hard to see the team win even 50 games this season.
Colorado Rockies Need To Be Active During The MLB Trade Deadline

The only way for the team to get back in the race is by starting from scratch. That said, they must hold on to the top-performing players and trade for new ones. The franchise must be active during the MLB trade deadline.

The Colorado Rockies need more than two or three trades to make it happen. With only a handful of top-performing players, they have a lot of work to do. The starting rotation is average, and there are no big stars on the team.
Kyle Freeland has been placed on the IL, and they do have some top-performing sluggers. Hunter Goodman, Ryan McMahon, Jordan Beck, and Mickey Moniak are some of the top sluggers on the Rockies squad.
Yet, they need more if they want to compete in the next couple of years. The good news is that Monfort is trying to find a solution for the team. The Colorado Rockies are ranked last in the week 11 MLB power rankings.
