Curt Schilling loves to argue on Twitter, but he appears to have met his match on Tuesday night.
Schilling, the ex-All-Star pitcher turned right-wing political commentator, is no stranger to social-media controversy, so it isn’t shocking that he had something to say about Bubba Wallace and the noose controversy.
The FBI recently concluded its investigation, saying Wallace was not the target of a hate crime, rather the noose that was found had actually been in that particular garage stall since the fall of 2019.
Wallace released a statement on this matter, saying “I want to thank my team, NASCAR and the FBI for acting swiftly and treating this as a real threat. I think we’ll gladly take a little embarrassment over what the alternatives could have been.”
Schilling wasn’t buying the story, so he took to Twitter and called this situation “Jussie Smollett version 2.0.” He also took a shot at those reporting on this dilemma, saying “Where is the media recanting their idiocy?”
As some will recall, Smollett claimed that he was the victim of an attack in which two offenders approached him and gained his attention by yelling out racial and homophobic slurs. He also kept a noose around his neck until police officers showed up. Investigators debunked these claims and subsequently charged him with 16 felony counts of disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false police report.
Schilling also managed to get into a Twitter argument with Reds pitcher Trevor Bauer as well, and all of that controversy got him to delete his account entirely.
