Veteran pitcher Clayton Kershaw is coming off a tough outing against the New York Mets. The Dodgers’ ace was plagued with injuries, and he’s been coming back for more. Fans were happy to watch Kershaw make the starting rotation upon his return. However, his struggles have not gone unnoticed, and things are yet to get better.
Kershaw’s recent outing against the Mets was subpar. The veteran recorded only two strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched. Kershaw was pulled out of the game after throwing 92 pitches. He surrendered six hits, walked three, and gave up five runs.
Despite the Dodgers winning the game, fans had negative comments on Clayton Kershaw’s performance. Here are some reactions from X.

“Having him in the rotation is hurting the team. The dream is over Johnny. Dodgers need to find a non-roster position for him on the team,” wrote one fan.

“Kersh only hitting 89mph on his fastball. Lacks command. Not sure he’s a competitive option anymore,” one fan said.

Clayton Kershaw’s Future With The Dodgers Seems Questionable

This might be the last year with Kershaw in Dodger Blue. The pitcher has been a Dodger all his life, and he’s not ready to pitch for another team. Kershaw previously mentioned that he would not pitch in another uniform.
It’s hard to see the Dodgers extending Kershaw after the 2025 season. The pitcher has a 0-0 record with a bad 5.17 ERA. In 15.2 innings pitched. Clayton Kershaw is 37 and he has to perform well this season to stay in the game.
Only a few pitchers like Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer have managed to sustain as veterans. If Kershaw fails to sign a contract with the Dodgers, he might retire after the 2025 season. The Dodgers will continue to use Kershaw since Tyler Glasnow’s return is delayed.
