Veteran slugger DJ LeMahieu had one of the worst seasons with the New York Yankees last year. Injuries have gotten the better of tLaMahieu, and he hopes to come back stronger. The third baseman was limited in his performance, scoring only two home runs in 201 at-bats.
LeMahieu is trying hard to get back in the game. After a tough year, the slugger opened up on his frustrating season. The Yankees are hoping that LeMahieu will turn things around. However, they have not given him too much importance.
The offseason has not been kind to the slugger since he was unable to take any swings. With spring training arriving, DJ LeMahieu hopes to secure a spot on the team. He can’t help but reflect on his challenging season.
“It’s tough, it’s tough. I’ve definitely lost a lot of sleep and it’s tough to be a guy that the team can’t rely on at times. I always take pride in that, so to not be able to do that, it’s definitely frustrating. At the same time, I haven’t lost my passion for helping this team and my passion for this team. That keeps me going,” LeMahieu said.

The slugger continued to discuss how injuries have played a vital role in declining his performance.
“The last few years, bumps and bruises, this and that, the foot fracture, stuff that I could kind of play through in the past, it escalates and compounds. I think that’s been the frustrating part. Is it a major injury? Maybe, maybe not. But it’s the stuff that it’s been difficult to get past has been frustrating,” DJ LeMahieu said via New York Post.

Yankees To Consider DJ LeMahieu As An Option For Third Base.
With Glyeber Torres gone, the Bronx Bombers will shift Jazz Chisholm Jr. to second base. That said, the third base position is open for grabs. The Yanks are looking at internal options to fill that spot. However, the competition is rising.
LeMahieu will be on the list alongside Oswaldo Cabrera and Oswald Peraza. All three players must prove their worth to secure the position. Cabrera has a better chance, but Boone and Cashman will also give an equal opportunity for LeMahieu.
It’s about time the slugger gets back in the race, especially since his future with the team is a little uncertain. If DJ LeMahieu fails to perform, the Yanks might consider trading him. Due to an injury, the Yankees will not have Giancarlo Stanton in the lineup on Opening Day. MLB insider believes that Stanton’s absence could cost Aaron Judge’s game.
