It’s been a rocky ride on the injury front for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and this week brings a mixed bag of updates. From Tommy Edman’s setback to Emmet Sheehan’s progress and Teoscar Hernandez’s uncertain timeline, the Dodgers are walking a tightrope as they look to keep their season on track.
MLB Injury Report
Tommy Edman “Further Away” From a Return

Let’s start with Edman. The versatile infielder/outfielder is still sidelined with right ankle inflammation and was initially expected to return during the Diamondbacks series. But that won’t be happening. Manager Dave Roberts confirmed Edman’s ankle isn’t responding well to treatment and he’s now “further away” from a return than the club hoped.
Emmet Sheehan Making Noise On The Comeback Trail

Sheehan, who missed all of 2024 after undergoing Tommy John surgery, just took a major step in his rehab. He is now facing live hitters and getting closer to a rehab assignment. If everything stays on track, he could rejoin the big-league rotation around the All-Star break, which would be a massive boost to a staff that’s already leaned heavily on Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Gavin Stone.
No Quick Return In Sight For Teoscar Hernandez

Outfielder Teoscar Hernandez, one of L.A.’s key bats, landed on the 10-day IL with a Grade 1 groin strain. There’s no exact return date yet, but Roberts said he will likely be out “a little while.” Not ideal timing, especially as the Dodgers’ offense continues to shuffle pieces around.

In the meantime, expect to see more James Outman and Hyeseong Kim filling the gaps. Both have stepped up when needed, and the Dodgers will need more of that as they navigate this injury stretch.
