The outfielder must pick up the pace and perform soon before the team sends him out. With young players eagerly waiting for a position to play, Conforto will soon become an option. Or, they could even fail to give him a contract extension.
Conforto signed a one-year deal worth $17 million and received a $8,500,000 signing bonus. Failing to perform will put him in a risky position. The Dodgers might DFA the slugger and send him down to the minors.
The Boys in Blue have invested heavily in the offseason, and several players have deferred money on their contracts. This could be the team’s best shot at winning the World Series. Hence, they need players who perform, and Michael Conforto is a liability. Fans have already called out the team to demote Conforto.
