Manny Machado and the San Diego Padres picked up a much-needed 5-3 win over the rival Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night, but it came with a major concern. Star outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. left the game in the ninth inning after taking a 98-mph fastball off his left hand. Tatis immediately dropped to the ground in pain before exiting with trainers.

“Let’s just hope the CT scan comes back negative,” Machado said after the game. “They gotta pray it comes back negative tomorrow.”

Tatis entered the game batting .278 with 13 home runs and 31 RBIs. He has been the heartbeat of San Diego’s lineup this season, and losing him for any length of time would be a massive blow.
The drama escalated quickly after the incident as Padres manager Mike Shildt stormed out to confront the umpire, prompting both benches to clear. Emotions were high, and moments later, Padres reliever Robert Suarez hit Shohei Ohtani with a pitch and was ejected. Amid the chaos, San Diego pushed across two more runs to take control of the game.

The Padres now wait for the results of Tatis Jr.’s scan, knowing it could alter the course of their season. Manny Machado is upset about his teammate and eagerly awaits the negative results on his scan.
Dodgers slugger Max Muncy recently claimed they “only have one rival” in Giants. However, the recent heated moments between the Dodgers and Padres are worsening. The Dodgers have always had the upper hand against San Diego this season.
