Fernando Tatis Jr. just turned a rainy night in Pittsburgh into his personal highlight reel, and fans across the MLB are convinced: he’s HIM.
With the game tied 1-1 in the top of the ninth on Saturday, Tatis pulled off one of the wildest plays of the season. After leading off the inning with a double, the Padres’ star stole third. But he wasn’t done.
When Pirates closer David Bednar fired a pitch that skipped past catcher Joey Bart, Tatis took off like a missile. The ball barely rolled away, but that was enough. Tatis slid in under Bart’s lunging tag, scoring the go-ahead run and leaving the entire stadium and social media in shock.

What makes this moment even more unreal? Tatis had taken a 93 mph pitch off his forearm just one night earlier and was pulled from the game. But 24 hours later, he is stealing home in clutch time.
Saturday’s steal also marked his 100th career stolen base. That puts him in elite company, joining a short list of players to reach 100 homers and 100 steals in under 550 games.
The Padres went on to win 2-1, their fourth straight, but the night belonged to El Niño.
