Juan Soto is having a far-from-good season at the New York Mets.
The Dominican Republic-born outfielder signed a historic 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets but couldn’t quite deliver.
He has had a rocky start to the season. Soto is hitting just .224 with a .352 on-base percentage, along with eight home runs and 25 RBIs through 55 games. That’s too low for the NY fans to buy the Soto dream.
However, the 4x All-Star faced a row of online humiliation for his excitement towards something related to his roots.
Recently, Haugland Group, a construction company, gifted Soto a Dominican Republic-themed Mets jersey.

In the video, he was smiling with joy as he kept flipping the jersey to check his country’s colors.

Though the fans on social media were not pleased, soon after the video was shared on the internet, fans started roasting him.
Mets Fans Berate Juan Soto Over Declining Performance

Despite his struggles at the plate, Juan Soto has managed to be a positive influence in the Mets’ locker room. He’s stepped up as a leader, introducing a fun bonding ritual during spring training.
Although, there’s not quite a lot of love for him outside the team environment. The Mets fans on social media are not loving his latest video.
“If only he gave a fuck about hitting as much as he did this jersey!” a fan commented.
