Despite a challenging start to his tenure with the New York Mets, Juan Soto has found a steadfast supporter in Yankees legend Derek Jeter. During a recent appearance on FOX, Jeter expressed unwavering confidence in the 26-year-old slugger’s future with the Mets.
Appearing on FOX’s broadcast, Jeter shut down the panic around Soto’s early-season slump with a simple but strong message,
“My two oldest are in first and second grade. They will be finishing college, and Juan Soto will still be playing for the New York Mets. He’s going to be there for a long time. He’s going to hit.”
Jeter’s vote of confidence comes at a time when Soto’s numbers have drawn criticism. Through 58 games, he is hitting .231 with nine home runs and 27 RBIs. The OPS sits at .770 – a far cry from his previous All-Star campaigns.
A 17-game homerless stretch only intensified criticism, though Soto snapped the streak with a solo shot against the Rockies on Friday.

“It’s a matter of time… I’m going to keep working,” Soto said.
Team president David Stearns also weighed in recently, noting that while Soto’s strike-zone discipline remains solid, he might be pressing a bit too hard to deliver.
Despite Soto’s slow start, the Mets haven’t missed a beat. They sit atop the NL East with a 36-22 record and recently wrapped up a series win over the Rockies. Soto homered in the 8-2 win, while Kodai Senga turned in a sharp performance on the mound.
They will conclude the series against the Rockies on Sunday and will prepare for a four-game showdown against the Dodgers, another chance for Soto to prove why the Mets made him the face of their future.
