Free Freeman will go down in history for hitting one of the best grand slams in baseball. The entire MLB world is aware of Freeman’s epic slam against Nestor Cortes Jr. in the first World Series game between the Yankees in 2024.
It was a game-changing shot for the Los Angeles Dodgers that set the tone for the Series. The All-Star slugger became the World Series MVP, and the rest is history. While everyone still celebrates Freeman’s epic grand slam, not many are aware of how it changed lives.
Recently, Freddie Freeman revealed a heartwarming story behind his iconic walk-off bomb. Chris Rose, who interviewed Freeman, was pretty surprised to hear the story.
“I’ve met many people that have tattoos of me, but the most memorable one was when we had our Dodger Fest. A guy told a story about how he used to drink when he came to the games and he used to drink a lot. On that day, he didn’t drink because he wanted to be more present with his kids. He said the ball flew over his head and he hasn’t drank since,” Freeman said. “That’s what sports can do to people. It can change people’s lives. I’m not trying to go out there and do that, but it gives you a sense of renewed purpose.”

Freeman was out for a long time due to his ankle injury. The slugger missed several games and has only 39 at-bats this season. Despite that, Freeman has four home runs, nine RBIs, and 11 hits. He is slashing .282 with a .370 OBP and a 1.037 OPS.
The Dodgers star is all set to have another strong season in 2025. Now that he’s back in form, he’s expected to crank 25 to 30 home runs this season easily.
The Dodgers are currently at the top of the league with the San Diego Padres. The franchise has moved to the second spot in the MLB power rankings for week 4. Freddie Freeman will continue to play a crucial role in the team.
