Los Angeles Dodgers color commentator Orel Hershiser accused the Houston Astros of cheating on live television during Friday night’s game in La La Land.
As every MLB fan knows, a league investigation determined that the Astros engaged in an illegal sign-stealing scandal during the 2017 and ’18 seasons. The Astros, of course, went on to win the 2017 World Series after defeating the Dodgers in a thrilling seven-game series.
Though the Dodgers responded with three NL pennants and two World Series championships (2020 and 2023), it’s understandably hard for the organization and fanbase to get over the fact that they were cheated out of a championship in 2017.
In the top of the third inning of Friday night’s game, Orel Hershiser accused the Astros of cheating after Cam Smith crushed a double off Ben Casparius:
“I don’t want to open an old wound,” Orel Hershiser said. “But in some ways, they’re swinging at these breaking balls like they know what is coming.”

The Astros crushed the Dodgers 18-1 in the first of a three-game series. The contest marked LA’s worst loss in the history of Dodger Stadium, which opened in 1962.
