Since becoming a New York Met, Juan Soto has received criticism from many. Yankees fans have criticized the slugger by comparing Ben Rice’s numbers with Soto’s. Likewise, he’s received hate from many. However, one person who has constantly called out Soto for his slow start is WFAN host Sal Licata.
The Mets became the first team in the league to win 20 games. Soto might not have smashed many home runs, but he’s contributed vastly to their success. Licata is still not pleased with Soto’s start, saying that he’s still waiting for Juan Soto to perform.

Mets fans lashed out at the host for his criticism. Fans took to social media to share their reactions.
“Then you’re not a Mets fan if you can’t enjoy having the best record in the league. Sal is obsessed with Soto because he is insecure to Yankee fans. Grow up,” one fan wrote.

“This is so wildly embarrassing. Quite the contrary, it should make you MORE excited that the team is the best in baseball without Soto performing at his best or their best starting pitcher. But that’s what talk show hosts have to do…make things up,” another fan wrote.

Sal Licata Says The Most Important Stat For Juan Soto Is The Soto Shuffle

While Sal is not entirely correct with his words, it’s true that Soto has not done his shuffle with the Mets. He’s probably taking a while to adjust to the team.
“The most important stat metric, whatever, for Juan Soto forget the average of the homers or the OBP. It’s the Soto shuffle, when you see that, you know that Soto is right. We haven’t seen nearly enough of that in his first 29 games,” Licata said via SNY.TV.
It’s too early to judge Soto. The slugger is still getting on base, and it’s just one month into the season. Soto has plenty of time to prove his worth. Previously, Licata lashed out at Soto for his poor start to the season.
