With just three home runs in 108 at-bats, the 2025 MLB season is going a bit slow for Juan Soto. While he does get on base and holds a decent .250 batting average, it’s still hard for fans to digest Soto’s start. Fans are looking at the huge contract and expect more from Soto.
The All-Star has a .347 OBP and a .772 OPS. Those numbers are not bad, but they are not exceptional for a slugger of Soto’s caliber. He has a dozen RBIs with a couple of fielding errors. Mets owner Steve Cohen gave a realistic answer amid Soto’s rough start.
“It’s very subtle how that works, and you can’t just look at it in a very narrow sense. I think, if you ask him, he’ll probably say it’s not going as what he hoped,” Steven Cohen said.
The Mets’ owner acknowledged that Juan Soto is a great hitter, and it makes sense to discuss his performance at the end of the year.
“I mean, he is singly focused on baseball. He’s a pure hitter. Let’s have this discussion at the end of the year,” Cohen continued.
The Mets’ owner is probably right, as Soto has the ability to pick up the pace. He’s known for doing it, and it’s too early to put on a tag to call him out for his slow start.

New York Mets Win Despite Juan Soto’s Struggle
The Mets are doing a fine job despite Soto having a slow start. Sluggers like Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor have stepped up at the plate. Soto’s struggle is evident, but the Mets are handling things well.
They became the first team to win 20 games this MLB season. The Mets are also predicted to make the playoffs. However, they are still having a tough battle in the NL East.
Juan Soto has plenty of time to get back into form. Many believe that Soto is still not comfortable in Queens, and many are calling him out for his performance. Mets fans have always been great in supporting him.
