The New York Yankees came into Friday night’s World Series rematch against the Los Angeles Dodgers riding high on a five-game winning streak. But in a game filled with long balls and high expectations, it was Max Fried’s roughest night of the year that stole the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
The Yankees built a 5-2 lead behind home runs from Aaron Judge, Austin Wells, Trent Grisham, and Paul Goldschmidt. But the Dodgers, fueled by Shohei Ohtani’s two-homer performance, mounted a four-run rally in the sixth and never looked back.

For the Yankees, it was a missed opportunity, and for Fried, a night to forget.

Max Fried entered the game without having allowed more than two earned runs in any of his previous 11 starts. But against a red-hot Dodgers lineup, he lasted just five innings, giving up eight hits, six earned runs, two home runs, and striking out only three.
