Arizona Diamondbacks star Ketel Marte had one of his worst moments on the field after he became a victim of heckling. The slugger broke down in tears after a fan yelled at him about his late mother. Several athletes have been victims of heckling over the years, and it seems to be growing.
While some players ignore such instances, what happened to Marte was terrible. Marte’s mother passed away in an accident back in 2017. Sadly, the fan who took a shot at the slugger said something about his mother. Ketel Marte was visibly upset, and the entire MLB fanbase, including players, managers, and analysts, offered him their support.
The incident took place while the Diamondbacks were playing the Chicago White Sox. The MLB took action against the fan and banned him from visiting all ballparks. Ketel Marte finally broke his silence and revealed the fan’s disrespectful comment about his late mother.
“I wanna thank all of the fans who have been concerned about me. In the seventh inning, I came to bat. I’m ready at the plate, and I hear this fan shouting. He was on top of the dugout, and he yelled at me, saying stuff about my mom. He was like I sent your mom a text last night,” Ketel Marte said.
“In 2017, when everything happened with my mom, I was here in Chicago. The manager had my back. They kicked the fan out, and I don’t think he’ll be allowed back in the parks,” Marte continued.
