The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially accepted an invitation to the White House to celebrate their 2024 World Series championship.
The team, which defeated the New York Yankees in five games last fall, will visit President Donald Trump on April 7 in Washington, D.C., to face the Nationals.
This marks the Dodgers’ second trip to the White House in the past five years, having visited under then-President Joe Biden following their 2020 title. On Tuesday, the club announced its decision, emphasizing its commitment to baseball’s long-standing tradition of champions visiting the White House.
Dodgers Embrace White House Tradition
“In keeping with long-standing baseball tradition, President Trump has invited the 2024 World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers to the White House when they play in Washington D.C. on April 7,” the team said in an official statement. “The Dodgers look forward to visiting the White House and celebrating our title. In addition, members of the Dodgers will visit Capitol Hill on April 8.”
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed his attendance, a notable stance given his previous comments about avoiding a White House visit under Trump. When asked about his change of heart, Roberts called the invitation a “great honor.”

“I respect the position. It’s the highest office in our country, certainly in the world, so, looking forward to it,” Roberts told ESPN on Tuesday.

The Dodgers join a growing list of championship teams accepting White House invitations. The Philadelphia Eagles will visit on April 28 after winning the Super Bowl. President Trump also plans to host the 2019 Kansas City Chiefs, who missed their original White House trip due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With their visit now confirmed, the Dodgers continue a tradition that has long been part of Major League Baseball history. Celebrating their second title in five seasons, the reigning champs will take a brief detour from their regular season schedule to mark the achievement on one of the nation’s biggest stages.
