The luxury Costa Rican hotel where the teenage son of former New York Yankees star Brett Gardner tragically passed away has issued a statement addressing the heartbreaking incident.
Arenas Del Mar Beachfront & Rainforest Resort, located in the picturesque town of Manuel Antonio, confirmed that they fully cooperate with authorities as an investigation into the tragedy unfolds.
Miller Gardner, 14, died on March 21 while vacationing with his family. Local officials reported that he may have suffered from food-related intoxication, though the exact cause remains unclear. In a statement to DailyMail.com, the resort expressed condolences and emphasized their commitment to supporting both the grieving family and ongoing inquiries.
Resort Addresses Tragic Incident

“We are deeply saddened by this loss, and our hearts go out to the family during this incredibly difficult time,” Arenas Del Mar said in their statement. “The factors that led to this tragic incident are unknown, and we are fully cooperating with authorities as they investigate.”
The family revealed that several members had fallen ill before Miller passed away in his sleep. The U.S. State Department confirmed the death of an American citizen in Costa Rica and stated they are closely monitoring local investigations.
Arenas Del Mar offers pristine beachfront access, expert naturalist guides, and high-end dining. The resort emphasizes fresh, high-quality ingredients through its “Dock to Dish” seafood program. However, authorities are now investigating its food safety protocols to determine the cause of the teen’s sudden illness and death.
