
Kavan Markwood, the Pittsburgh Pirates fan who fell over the 21-foot Clemente Wall at PNC Park last Wednesday, has made major strides in his recovery.
The 20-year-old has family and friends excited this week.
Markwood was in critical condition after he went over the railing during the seventh inning of the Pirates-Chicago Cubs game at PNC Park.

Markwood is making strides in his recovery and has since taken his first steps, his loved ones announced.
The update was posted on the GoFundMe page, which was created to raise money for his medical bills and the “financial hardships that this family is experiencing right now.”
Jennifer Phillips — the fundraiser’s organizer — shared the exciting news about Kavan Markwood, saying, “Seeing him up and moving was a huge win and definitely lifted everyone’s spirits.”

Phillips shared he is dealing with a broken neck, clavicle, and back as a result of the fall he took on Wednesday.
Kavan Markwood’s Family Calling His Recovery “Nothing Short Of A Miracle”

The family of the college football player who fell about 20 feet from the bleachers at a Chicago Cubs game in Pittsburgh provided more about his health.
Markwood fell from the bleachers onto the field during last Wednesday’s seventh inning of the Pirates-Cubs game.
Family and friends are calling his recovery “nothing short of miraculous.”
“We are so relieved and grateful to share some encouraging news about Kavan,” GoFundMe organizer Jennifer Phillips, shared on Saturday.
She continued, “As of this morning, Kavan is awake, alert, and able to speak. After everything he’s been through since the accident on Wednesday night, this progress feels nothing short of miraculous.”
At the time of the incident, Kavan Markwood was celebrating Andrew McCutchen’s double. According to CBS News, he was attending the game with his girlfriend, Alonna, and another friend.
Nobody had a clue that things would soon turn tragic.
In the GoFundMe, Phillips shared her thanks for the “prayers, support and generosity” regarding Markwood.
“He still has a long road ahead of him, but today brought a moment of hope that we’ve all been holding onto,” she wrote on Saturday.
