After nearly three months on the sidelines due to left knee inflammation, Marcus Stroman made his long-awaited return to the mound for the Yankees on Sunday. He tossed five innings in a 12-5 win over the Oakland A’s, giving up just one run on three hits with two walks and one strikeout. After the game, he delivered a strong four-word message.
“I don’t do doubt,” Stroman said.
“I knew I’d be back at some point, it was just a matter of when,” the 34-year-old further added.

Marcus Stroman’s left knee inflammation issues proved too much for him to
fight through after just three starts into the season. He had an 11.57 ERA after
those games and was placed on the Injured List.
He didn’t have a successful rehab stint either, notching up a 6.97 ERA in
three starts. Stroman’s final outing, just four days before his return to the
rotation, saw him earn five runs on 10 hits in just 3.2 innings pitched for
Double-A Somerset.
However, despite the struggle, Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone showed trust in Stroman and called him after Ryan Yarbrough was placed on the IL. While many fans were skeptical about Yankees’s decision, Stroman proved he was ready to return.
However, it was not just Stroman who shone in Yankees’ win. New York’s offense came alive and registered their first double-digit scoring game since June 10 to seal the series. Aaron Judge launched 2 home runs, pushing his homers tally to 30 this season.
Meanwhile, Jazz Chisholm Jr. continued to shine since his return from injury. He went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, a bases-clearing triple, four RBIs.
With the win, the Yankees moved to 48-35, widening their lead in the AL East. They will next face Blue Jays on Monday.
