Max Muncy wasn’t himself to start the season. The swings weren’t connecting, the confidence was fading, and each game felt like more of a struggle. He knew something was off, but couldn’t quite figure out what.
Through May 2, he was batting just .188, had hit only one home run, and managed just 5 RBIs.
Then, after weeks of frustration, he decided to try something different. A quick visit to the eye doctor turned into a surprising discovery, and soon, Muncy was stepping into the batter’s box wearing glasses for the first time in his career.
Glasses Save Max Muncy’s Season

Since May 3, Muncy has looked like a completely different hitter. He is hitting .288, has crushed 8 home runs, and racked up 33 RBIs. His on-base percentage jumped from .301 to .422, and his slugging percentage skyrocketed to .528. Just two months ago, fans wondered if he should be benched, and now, he is one of the hottest bats in the Dodgers’ lineup.

The turnaround wasn’t just mental, it was medical. After getting diagnosed with astigmatism, Muncy took a cue from teammate Kike Hernandez and tried glasses. Not only did they help him see the ball better, but they also helped him stay in the lineup. His timing improved, his strikeouts dropped, and the results started coming fast.

In Sunday’s 13-7 win over the Nationals, Muncy delivered one of his biggest games of the season. He hit a grand slam in the sixth inning and followed it up with a three-run bomb in the seventh, capping off a 7-RBI night that put the game out of reach.
With the Dodgers in the middle of a crucial stretch, Muncy’s resurgence has come at the perfect time. And now, what started as a last-ditch fix has turned into one of the best stories of the season.
For Max Muncy, the difference has been clear, literally!
