The New York Mets are having a great start to the 2025 season as they remain at the top of the NL East. Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, and all the other sluggers are having a great time in Queens. The offense is stacked with great talent, but an equal part of the credit goes to their starting pitchers.
Kodai Senga was unable to pitch much after his season-ending injury last year. However, Senga is back on track this season and threw a gem against the Oakland Athletics. The pitcher tossed seven scoreless innings and struck out four. Senga holds a strong 1.06 ERA with a 2-1 record.
Despite his strong success, WFAN host Sal Licata criticized Kodai Senga for pitching only seven innings for the Mets.
“He took himself out of that game after 77 pitches. I got a problem with that. It looked to me like Senga caught Mendoza by surprise. He threw 77 pitches and he’s going to get an extra day of rest, you mean to say he couldn’t go back out for the eight,” Licata said via Audacy.
Mets fans lashed out at Licata for his criticizing Senga. Here’s a look at some fan reactions from X.
“Wtf are you talking bout bro,” asked one fan.

“Sals an idiot. What 4th start in over a year dude. If his bullpen sucked he would’ve went out. But he’s got the best BP right now. I give him credit,” another fan wrote.

The guy barely pitched last year because he was riddled with injury. Another dumb take by Sal (probably by design, in order to be clickbait)

Juan Soto Is Not Trying To Hit Home Runs For The Mets

Soto is having a rough start for the team. The slugger just cranked his second home run against the Minnesota Twins. Fans were expecting more from the All-Star, but it turns out that he’s not trying to hit home runs for the Mets.
“I’m not trying to hit homers at all. We’re trying to play team baseball right here. Whenever I gotta take my walks, I’ll take my walks. Definitely we’re trying to have it either way, but I don’t mind that’s baseball. Things are gonna happen, we just gotta keep trying out there and try to do our best to help the team,” Juan Soto said.

The Mets star is picking up the pace and focusing on playing as a team. Soto has been successful in getting on base and is slashing .250/.400/.829 this season. The slugger also mentioned that it was great to hit ahead of Aaron Judge and called him the greatest hitter in baseball.
