The New York Mets have done everything they can to bring in some top players. Steve Cohen won the Juan Soto trade by outbidding his rivals. The franchise re-signed Pete Alonso and spent a bomb in the offseason. However, they still have loopholes to fill.
The pitching rotation was hit with injuries, yet they did a fantastic job holding the best ERA in the league. While they had a great start, the team fell apart, and there is plenty of room for improvement. The Mets have dropped to the third spot with their team ERA and could use some extra firepower.
While MLB trade rumors are in full swing, the Mets have recently been linked to a star pitcher from the Pittsburgh Pirates. It’s not Paul Skenes, as everyone is aware that Bob Nutting is not ready to part ways with him. Likewise, Skenes is not prepared to leave the Pirates.

One of the other pitchers available is Andrew Heaney, and Cohen might be ready to give it a shot. The Pirates are not ready to trade Skenes and O’neil Cruz, but Heaney might be the perfect fit in Queens.

Due to a pile of injuries, the Mets might be forced to bring in Andrew Heaney. At present, he seems to be a perfect option for the team. The Pirates are far behind the playoff race. It’s going to be another bad year for fans as they sit at the bottom of the NL Central.
The Pirates have a 38-50 record, one of the worst teams in the league. Hence, they might be willing to part ways with Heaney if the Mets have something good to offer. The Pirates are ranked No. 28 in the MLB power rankings for week 13.
