Los Angeles Angels fans hoping for a quick return from Mike Trout might want to brace themselves. Manager Ron Washington revealed on Wednesday that Trout, who was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a bone bruise in his surgically repaired left knee, still hasn’t resumed any baseball activity.
The injury occurred during a routine sprint to first base against the Seattle Mariners, and while Trout initially sounded optimistic about a short IL stint, the tone around his recovery has shifted.
“He’s feeling better, but he’s still not able to do baseball activities”, Washington said ahead of the game against the Blue Jays.
That comment alone could set off alarms for Angels fans, especially given Trout’s recent injury history.
Mike Trout’s Injury History Adds to Growing Concern

The three-time MVP has struggled to stay healthy in recent seasons. In 2024, he appeared in just 29 games before undergoing surgery for a torn meniscus. The Angels hoped that shifting him from center field to right field in 2025 would reduce wear and tear, but the latest knee issue raises questions about his durability moving forward.

General Manager Perry Minasian didn’t offer much clarity either, saying: “It’s a bone bruise. No idea [on return time]… until he can start running, that’s probably a first threshold.”
In Trout’s absence, the Angels are in freefall, having lost 15 of their last 19 games. The offense has struggled without their star, and the club continues to tumble in the AL West standings.
For now, all eyes are on Trout’s knee and whether he can return soon enough to help salvage what’s quickly becoming another tough year in Anaheim.
