Rafael Devers made a bold statement by calling out the Red Sox GM. Devers was moved to be a designated hitter after Alex Bregman came into the picture. The slugger wasn’t happy with the shift in position, but he gladly accepted it. Now that Triston Casas is out for the season, the Red Sox want Devers to take his position.
The veteran slugger made a bold statement, saying it’s unfair for the team to keep shifting him. He called out the team’s GM by saying that he should understand better, especially since he played baseball.
Rafael Devers is upset about the whole situation, but MLB analyst Brian Kenny gave him a reality check. According to Kenny, Devers has no option but to adjust to the team.
“In the Red Sox defense, Devers, while being Boston’s best hitter, had led the American League in third base errors for seven straight seasons. I’m not big on errors meaning that much, but seven straight years? I’m sorry, your not making a great case for yourself,” Kenny said.
Baseball has a long history of stars changing positions when needed, but Rafael Devers has expressed an unwillingness to make another move.

Kenny ensured to highlight certain points that many would agree on. The analyst says Devers is hired to play baseball, and being one of the highest-paid players on Boston’s roster, he needs to learn to adjust.
“Devers loses this one, because ultimately, he’s not paid to play third base, he’s paid to play baseball. As the clubs highest-paid player, it is his obligation to do what’s best for the team,” Kenny said.
He compared Alex Bregman, Garrett Crochet, and a few other players’ contracts with Rafael Devers’s. Kenny’s statement makes sense, but it’s also not easy for Devers since he’s not a utility player. Devers expressed his disappointment after he was asked to play first base.
