The Colorado Rockies have begun the 2025 MLB season in a way that no team wants to. Starting with a remarkable record of 8-42.
This dismal performance marked the worst start in Rockies franchise history. Also it set a new record for the worst start in modern MLB history. Previously, that dubious honor belonged to the 2023 Oakland Athletics. They managed a meager 10-40 record after their first 50 games.
Looking back at the past, the 1904 Washington Senators were seen as struggling with their 9-38 record and three ties. In comparison, the Rockies have taken it to a new level, failing to meet even the lowest expectations set for this season.

With all of this happening before their eyes, the Rockies’ fanbase is understandably feeling frustrated and disheartened.
Their loyal supporters are coming out on social media to voice their frustration.
In an effort to shake things up, the Rockies decided to part ways with manager Bud Black when they were 7-33. Their only hope was that the change would bring new energy and, hopefully, some wins.

Unfortunately, that spark hasn’t ignited yet. With the Rockies on track to possibly finish the season with a record of 26-136, they could surpass the current record for most losses in a season.
Which was set by the 2023 Athletics with 121.

MLB Fans Frustrated As Rockies Record The Worst Start In Modern MLB History

The numbers paint a pretty messy picture for the Rockies this season. With a staggering run differential of minus-159(the worst in all of baseball), they’re on course for a historic low of minus-515 by the end of the season.
For context, that would surpass the record for most losses by over 100 runs. Offensively, they’re at the bottom of the league with a paltry weighted runs created plus (wRC+) of 66.
And MLB fans on the internet are not having it.
“On pace to go 26-136,” a fan commented.

Their struggle is flat open: They haven’t won a single series and have already faced seven sweeps. A complete wipeout by the Philadelphia Phillies just this past week at home added to the misery.
