Jose Altuve is still adjusting to his new position, but it’s high time he picks up the pace. The Houston Astros are not the same competing team as they were after losing out some key players. Two of their top hitters, Kyle Tucker and Alex Bregman, have parted ways.
With several roster changes, the team moved Altuve to the outfield. Altuve was a strong second baseman, but his challenges with the new position are not getting any better. The slugger had more than a couple of mishaps and continued to drop the ball. Recently, he missed a routine fly ball and failed to make the play by giving up a run.
It’s not the first time MLB fans have trolled Jose Altuve for his blunders. Fans took to social media to relentlessly troll him again for his recent struggle. Here’s a look at some fan reactions.
“Baseball is hard when you can’t cheat anymore,” one fan wrote.

“The key is these are ROUTINE fly balls… I give him a ton of credit for moving out there so willingly, but you have to make the basic plays. The last 2 miscues were BASIC fly balls,” another fan chimed in.

It's a very specific scenario he needs to fix.

Jose Altuve Is All Set To Open The Season As The Astros’ Primary Leftfielder

Altuve has to get used to playing in left field since Joe Espada is not ready to bring him back to second base. The All-Star slugger must focus on his defense and try to work things out soon. The 2025 season is going to be more challenging for Altuve, especially defensively.
Despite his struggles, Jose Altuve is ready to take on the challenge and move on from his mistakes.
“I’m really happy that I got two more fly balls today after I missed that one and I was able to make those plays and just move on. Just move on. I’ve been in tough situations before, and I’ve overcome that. I’m ready to go out there and play good left field. I promise I’m going to keep working hard and be a great left fielder,” Altuve said via MLB Trade Rumors.
Jose Altuve will need to carry the burden in the absence of Tucker and Bregman. Meanwhile, the Yankees seem to have found the perfect pitcher to fill their starting rotation.
