Expectations were sky-high when the New York Mets landed Juan Soto in a record-breaking deal from the Yankees, but so far, things couldn’t have gone more sideways. The team hit a new low on Sunday, suffering an embarrassing 12-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates to cap off a three-game sweep in which they were outscored by 30-4.
The New York side was blown away in the series with scores of 9-1, 9-2, and 12-1 in the three games.

Mets owner Steve Cohen, who has been catching the blame for the team’s disappointing performance, told fans on X to “keep the faith.”
“Tough stretch , no sugarcoating it . I didn’t see this coming . I’m as frustrated as everybody else . We will get through this period . Our injured pitching will come back over the next few weeks . It is unlikely the team’s hitting with RISP will continue at this weak pace. Keep the faith!,” Cohen wrote on X.
MLB fans were quick to flood social media with brutal burns for the Mets and didn’t shy away from bringing up the massive payroll difference between both teams.
“Wow. I guess payroll doesn’t mean shite!” One fan commented.

Mets’ Miserable Run Continues

The Mets have now dropped 13 of their last 16 games. Injuries haven’t helped either. The New York team is without four starting pitchers, which has been one of the key reasons behind their struggles on the mound.
After their 9-2 defeat against the Pirates, the Mets’ players reportedly held a meeting at the clubhouse, but that clearly didn’t change their fortunes.
The distraught Mets will now look to pick themselves up as they prepare for the series against the Milwaukee Brewers, which starts on July 1.
