The Oakland Athletics are having a bad season in all possible ways. The A’s are three games behind the .500 mark and are at the bottom of the AL West. Yet, their biggest blunder was moving the team away from Oakland Stadium.
Fans were upset with their temporary home in Sacramento. What makes it worse is that their future home field is in Las Vegas. Many feel the team should not be called the Oakland Athletics anymore.
Recently, MLB insider Ken Rosenthal appeared on Foul Territory. When asked about who the villain is for the 2025 MLB season, Rosenthal responded John Fisher without any hesitation. Rosenthal is not the only one who feels Fisher is to blame for the team’s disaster. Fans have called him out along with several MLB enthusiasts.
“That would be John Fisher. They are playing in a minor league park because of the way things evolved in Oakland, and you can blame people all you want, and there’s plenty of blame. But this whole thing should never have happened,” Rosenthal said.

At present, the A’s are playing at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento and will continue to do so until 2028. Fisher mentioned that he remains committed to the team despite the changes, but fans are unhappy.

The last couple of years have not been kind to the team as their offensive and defensive struggles continue. The A’s are ranked at No. 26 with a 4.63 ERA. Their pitching squad has surrendered 27 home runs this season, and there’s plenty of room for improvement.
Offensively, the A’s are not too bad as they rank at No. 4 with home runs. Oakland has 34 home runs, and they hold a batting clip of .250. Tyler Soderstrom has been a bright spot for the team. The rising star is leading the league with nine home runs.
The Athletics have tough competition in the AL West from other opponents. Making the playoffs is going to be a long shot. Moving away from their Oakland ballpark has added to the team’s misery. However, they have jumped from No. 23 to No. 19 in the Week 4 MLB power rankings.
