The Arizona Diamondbacks have a decent starting rotation, but the recent injury to their ace has made things worse. After elbow discomfort, Corbin Burnes was forced to exit the game against the Washington Nationals. Burnes has been the bright spot on the team’s pitching rotation, and fans only hope he will return.
It’s hard to see the D’backs make the playoffs without Burnes, especially with the tough competition in the NL West. It’s unclear about his status, but if things go down the wrong line, the D’backs will have it bad.
Recently, MLB insider Jim Bowden opened up on the Diamondbacks’ current status without Burnes, and it’s frightening.
“Corbin Burnes is their best pitcher with an ERA under 3.00. If Corbin Burnes needs Tommy John or is out for the year and needs some kind of surgery, they’re screwed. Their season’s over. You got Eduardo Rodriguez still on the injured list with a shoulder. So, what do you do? You got Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly,” Bowden said
“I don’t see them coming back right now. Because they don’t have the pitching, and if you lose Burnes, they really don’t have the pitching,” Bowden continued.

Gallen has not been great with his recent performance. The other pitchers on the starting rotation are Brandon Pfaadt, and Ryne Nelson. Bowden is probably right since it’s going to be a hard challenge without Burnes.

Arizona Diamondbacks Need To Trade Before The Deadline

Bowden shed light on the team’s current status, and it’s evident that they need to take action. Hoping that Burnes is back on track, they cannot afford to have another pitcher injured. They need some extra firepower in their starting rotation.
It’s clear that they need to trade for players and rebuild the team. Even if they are unable to make the playoffs, they can rebuild their team for a better season next year. The Diamondbacks have two pitchers heading into free agency. After this season, Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, and Josh Naylor will become free agents.
The team is currently in crisis and must try to trade to bolster its starting rotation. Burnes’ injury has already cost the team, and fans are not pleased with its standing in the NL West.
