Week 12 has come and gone, and we’re seeing some impressive baseball being played throughout the week, with the best of the best doing everything they can to stay in first place in their respective divisions.
However, some MLB teams, which were near the bottom of the rankings, have risen in recent weeks and look to carve their own stories and potentially play spoiler against the leaders, which makes for incredible sports stories. Here at TPS, we can’t wait to see who’ll make it to the MLB postseason, but we still have a long way to go with summer almost upon us.
Here are your MLB Power Rankings after week 12.
Who are the top-ranking MLB teams after week 12 of action?
30. Colorado Rockies (Last week 30)

The Rockies had another tough week, losing their series against the Giants and Braves, but managing to secure a win in each series. Orlando Arcia contributed a two-run single to help the team win against the Giants in game three, while Ryan McMahon hit a go-ahead home run in the seventh inning of game three against the Braves. Although the Rockies achieved a couple of wins this week, they still have a lot of ground to cover, especially with key players like Kris Bryant and Ryan Feltner on the injured list.
29. Chicago White Sox (Last week 29)

The White Sox had a rough week 12 in the MLB, losing their series against the Astros and Rangers, respectively. Luis Roberts Jr. hit a massive home run, and Shane Smith pitched six effective innings against the Astros in game one, but the White Sox were no match for the competition for the rest of the week. The White Sox may have traded Aaron Civale for Andrew Vaughn, but they have a lot of catching up to do.

28. Athletics (Last week 27)

The Athletics started the week getting swept by the Angels, but were able to sweep the Royals. Luis Serverino 7 ⅔ effective innings against the Royals and game one, and Nick Kurtz hit a solo home run to help the A’s secure the sweep against the Royals in game three. The A’s couldn’t get much offense going against the Angels and were without rookie Jacob Wilson due to a hamstring injury. However, their sweep against the Royals was much needed for a positive finish to the week.
27. Miami Marlins (Last week 28)

The Marlins lost a tough 1-2 series against the Pirates, but were able to sweep the Nationals. Sandy Alcantara struck out six batters in game two against the Pirates, and Eric Wagaman had two RBIs in game three against the Nationals. The Marlins may have pitchers from their bullpen on the injured list, but they still have some decent hitters who can help them win key series.
26. Pittsburgh Pirates (Last week 24)

The Pirates started week 12 in the MLB by winning a 2-1 series against the Marlins, but lost a tough 1-3 series against the Cubs. Bryan Reynolds hit a bases-loaded triple in game one against the Marlins, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning of game two against the Cubs. Oneil Cruz played well during the Cubs series, but the Cubs ultimately earned the win thanks to very effective pitching and hitting.
25. Washington Nationals (Last week 22)

The Nationals had an abysmal week getting swept by the Mets and Marlins, respectively. Luis Garcia Jr. hit an RBI single in game three against the Mets, and James Wood hit a home run against the Nationals in game one. The rest of the Nationals’ hitting couldn’t keep up with the Mets’ and Marlins’ pitching, and the Nationals’ bullpen has struggled in recent days. The Nationals must rebound, or they’ll end up in last place in the NL East.
24. Baltimore Orioles (Last week 25)

The Orioles lost a tough 1-2 series against the Tigers, but were able to sweep the Angels. Jordan Westburg hit a three-run home run against the Tigers in game two, and Gary Sánchez hit a grand slam against the Angels in game three, giving them the sweep. The Orioles’ hitting was effective in helping the team reach 30 wins so far, but they have a ways to go before getting above 0.500.
23. Atlanta Braves (Last week 26)

The Braves had a very good week, winning their series against the Brewers and the Rockies, respectively. Chris Sale struck out a season-high 11 batters in game one against the Brewers, Marcel Ozuna hit a three-run homer in game one against the Rockies, and Spencer Strider had 13 strikeouts in his first win of the 2025 season in game two against the Rockies. The Braves’ pitching and hitting were effective for the most part, but the team still has some catching up to do if it wants to return to playoff contention in the MLB.
22. Los Angeles Angels (Last week 21)

The Angels started the week with a divisional sweep against the Athletics, but were swept by the Orioles. Mike Trout had two RBIs for the Angels in game one against the A’s, and Jo Adell homered in game three against the A’s. However, the Angels’ offense couldn’t get the ball moving in their lost series against the Orioles’ pitching. Will things get better for the Angels as the season progresses? We’ll just have to find out.
21. Kansas City Royals (Last week 16)

The Royals had an awful week, getting swept by the Yankees and Athletics, respectively. The Royals’ offense didn’t get many hits against the tough Yankees’ and Athletics’ pitching, and Bobby Witt Jr. had three hits and a run throughout the entire week. Vinnie Pasquantino admitted the Royals have had trouble scoring runs with guys in scoring position, which has to improve if the team wants to return to over 0.500.
20. Texas Rangers (Last week 23)

The Rangers had a very good week, winning a 2-1 series against the Twins and getting a sweep against the White Sox, respectively. Josh Smith, Jake Burger, and Wyatt Langford went deep in game three against the Twins, and rookie pitcher Kumar Rocker pitched five scoreless and effective innings against the White Sox in game three. The Rangers’ offense has improved in the week, and has shown a lot of promise to get back on track in the wild and competitive AL West.
19. Cleveland Guardians (Last week 15)

The Guardians had a rough week 12 in the MLB, losing a 1-2 series against the Reds and being swept by the Mariners. Carlos Santana hit a grand slam against the Reds in game three, but the rest of the team struggled against the Reds and Mariners. Lane Thomas returned to the lineup after a month on the injured list, but his return wasn’t enough to help the Guardians’ offense.
18. Seattle Mariners (Last week 17)

The Mariners were swept by the Diamondbacks, but rebounded with a sweep against the Guardians. Dominic Canzone hit a two-run single in game one against the Guardians, and J.P. Crawford hit a grand slam against the Guardians in game three. The Mariners’ offense couldn’t get many hits against the Diamondbacks, and their pitching was mostly ineffective, but the team rebounded against the Guardians with ease and climbed back to above 0.500.
17. Minnesota Twins (Last week 14)

The Twins had a brutal week, losing a 1-2 series against the Rangers and being swept by the Astros, respectively. Byron Buxton hit a 479-ft home run against the Rangers in game two, but the Twins couldn’t pull it together against the Astros pitching-wise, and had missed opportunities with runners in scoring position. On top of that, Royce Lewis was placed on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring sprain, which further hinders the team’s offense.
16. Arizona Diamondbacks (Last week 19)

The Diamondbacks had a glorious week, sweeping the Mariners and winning a 2-1 series against the Padres, respectively. Gabriel Moreno hit a three-run home run against the Mariners two, and Corbin Carroll and Josh Naylor both hit homers in game one against the Padres. The D-Backs’ offense has been very effective for the team, with Josh Naylor having a 0.300 batting average so far, and Eugenio Suarez leading the team with 21 home runs and 57 RBIs so far this MLB season.
15. Cincinnati Reds (Last week 18)

The Reds had a solid week, winning their series against the Guardians and Tigers, respectively. Andrew Abbott pitched his first three-hitter of his career in game two against the Guardians, and Elly De La Cruz had three RBI’s against the Tigers in game three. Despite a game three loss against the Guardians and a game one loss against the Tigers, the Reds’ offense has been very effective and efficient. Especially in their series against the Tigers, the best team in baseball so far this season.
14. St. Louis Cardinals (Last week 10)

The Cardinals had a rough week, getting swept by the Blue Jays and losing a tough 1-3 divisional series against the Brewers. Nolan Gorman hit a three-run home run in game two against the Cardinals despite the loss, and Gorman hit a three-run homer in game three against the Brewers. The Cardinals had plenty of missed opportunities during the week, especially when Iván Herrera hit a solo home run in game four against the Brewers, which the team failed to capitalize on afterwards.
13. Boston Red Sox (Last week 20)

The Red Sox had an incredible week against their MLB divisional foes, winning a 2-1 series against the Rays and sweeping the Yankees with ease at home. Roman Anthony hit a two-run double as his first MLB hit in game two against the Rays, Hunter Doobins pitched six effective innings against the Yankees in game two, and Brayan Bello pitched seven effective innings in game three against the Yankees. The Red Sox pitching was very effective in the week against their divisional foes, and the team traded Rafael Devers to the Giants for Kyle Harrison, Jordan Hicks, outfield prospect James Tibbs III, and rookie Jose Bello.
12. Milwaukee Brewers (Last week 12)

The Brewers started the week on a negative note, losing a 1-2 series against the Braves, but bounced back against the Cardinals with a 3-1 series win. Jackson Chourio and Jake Bauers both hit home runs in game two against the Braves, and Jacob Misiorowski pitched five no-hit innings in game one against the Cardinals. The Brewers’ hitters powered through their NL Central rivals very nicely, and their pitching was also effective.
11. Toronto Blue Jays (Last week 13)

The Blue Jays started the week hot, with a sweep against the Cardinals, but were swept by the Phillies. Alejandro Kirk had four hits, including a home run in game one against the Cardinals, and Ernie Clement homered in game three against the Cardinals. As good as the Blue Jays were against the Cardinals, their luck ran out in their lost series against the Phillies, as they ran into their tough and aggressive pitchers.
10. San Diego Padres (Last week 6)

The Padres had a rough week, losing two divisional series to the Dodgers and Diamondbacks, respectively. Manny Machado had five RBIs against the Dodgers in game two, and Nick Pivetta pitched seven strong innings against the D-Backs in game three. Despite finishing their series against the D-Backs on a positive note, the Padres looked inconsistent on the field, but this MLB team must rebound immediately if it wants to stay afloat in the highly competitive NL West.
9. Tampa Bay Rays (Last week 11)

The Rays started the week on a rough note, losing a tough 1-2 series against the Red Sox, but were able to sweep the Mets with ease on the road. Jake Magnum had four hits against the Red Sox in game one, Shane Baz allowed three hits and had six strikeouts in 6.2 innings in game three against the Mets, and Yandy Diaz had two hits and two RBIs against the Mets in game two. The Rays spoiled the Mets’ home stand, thanks to very effective hitting and solid pitching on defense.
8. Houston Astros (Last week 9)

The Astros had themselves a very impressive week, winning a 2-1 series against the White Sox and sweeping the Twins, respectively. Christian Walker had three hits, including a home run in game two against the White Sox, and Mauricio Dubón hit a walk-off single in game three against the Twins. The Astros’ strong pitching and hitting carried the team to victory over the Twins with ease, and they continue to look incredibly dangerous, as the season continues.
7. San Francisco Giants (Last week 8)

The Giants started the week on a high note, winning a 2-1 series against the Rockies, but lost a tough 1-2 series against their longtime rivals, the Dodgers. Mike Yastrzemski hit a two-run double in game two against the Rockies, and Casey Schmitt hit his first MLB career grand slam against the Dodgers in game one. As talented as the Giants have been, their pitching was no match for the Dodgers’ hot bats, and trading away Kyle Harrison to the Red Sox for Rafael Devers affected the team overall. However, Devers should fit in quite nicely in the Giants’ hitting lineup.
6. Philadelphia Phillies (Last week 7)

The Phillies had a solid week, winning a 2-1 series against the Cubs and sweeping the Blue Jays, respectively. Kyle Schwarber and Alec Bohm each homered in game three against the Cubs, and Nick Castellanos hit a grand slam in game three against the Blue Jays. The Philies’ offense played very effectively in the week and looks to continue dominating in the coming weeks.
5. New York Yankees (Last week 4)

The Yankees started the week strong with a sweep against the Royals but were swept on the road by their longtime rivals, the Boston Red Sox. Austin Wells hit a three-run homer, and Aaron Judge launched a 469-foot home run in game one against the Royals. Judge later hit a tying solo home run in game one against the Red Sox, before the team lost in extra innings. Despite the impressive sweep of the Royals, the Yankees returned to reality with their series loss against the Red Sox, and Judge took responsibility for the defeat, due to swinging at pitches outside the strike zone. The Yankees should bounce back from their lost series against the Red Sox.
4. Los Angeles Dodgers (Last week 5)

The Dodgers had an impressive week, winning their divisional series against the Padres and Giants, respectively. Teoscar Hernández hit a tie-breaking three-run home run against the Padres in game three, and Shohei Ohtani hit two homers against the Giants in game two, along with Clayton Kershaw pitching seven impressive innings in that same game. The Dodgers’ offense continues to be one of MLB’s sharpest, and the team announced Ohtani will pitch in game one against the Padres to open the new week.
3. Chicago Cubs (Last week 3)

The Cubs started the week on a sluggish note, losing a tough 1-2 series against the Phillies, but won an impressive 3-1 divisional series against the Pirates. Ian Happ homered twice in game two against the Phillies, Pete Crow-Armstrong hit two home runs in game one against the Pirates, and Happ hit the game-ending single to help the Cubs secure the win against the Pirates in game four. The Cubs’ offense has played incredibly well and consistently, and they will continue to dominate on the field as the season continues.
2. New York Mets (Last week 2)

The Mets started the week on an impressive note, sweeping the Nationals, but were swept by the Rays at home. David Peterson pitched a complete game, allowing six hits and six strikeouts against the Nationals in game two, and Kodai Senga threw 5 ⅔ scoreless innings against the Nationals in game three. As good as the Mets’ pitching has been, they struggled against the Rays’ powerful bats, as Griff Canning gave up six runs and walked five batters in game three against the Rays. The Mets should rebound very quickly in the coming weeks.
1. Detroit Tigers (Last week 1)

The Tigers had a strong start to the week with a 2-1 series win over the Orioles, but took a slight stumble in a 1-2 series loss against the Reds. Tarik Skubal pitched seven effective shutout innings in game three against the Orioles, and Gleyber Torres homered twice against the Reds in game one. Despite the Tigers’ impressive performance this season, the team’s bullpen struggled against Elly De La Cruz and the Reds’ lineup, and Jackson Jobe’s season came to an end as he must undergo Tommy John surgery. The Tigers should bounce back from their lost series and continue to dominate in the AL Central.
