Summer is here, and baseball across the Majors continues to heat up, with the best of the best maintaining control of their positions in first place, despite some teams facing rough patches.
Other teams are doing everything they can to secure first place in their respective divisions, while the bottom feeders of the MLB continue to struggle and stay afloat in the rankings until the conclusion of the regular season months from now.
We have more summer baseball ahead, and we can’t wait to see who heats up and who cools down.
Here are your latest MLB Power Rankings.
Who are the top-ranking MLB teams after week 13 of action?
30. Colorado Rockies (Last week 30)

The Rockies started the week on a high note with a 3-1 series win over the Nationals, but fell back to earth in a 1-2 series loss against the Diamondbacks. Michael Toglia hit two home runs in game two against the Nationals, and Mickey Moniak hit a home run and had three RBIs in game three against the Diamondbacks. Although a lot went right for the Rockies in their series against the Nationals, they still have a lot of ground to make up if they want to stay relevant.
29. Chicago White Sox (Last week 29)

The White Sox started the week rough, getting swept by the Cardinals, but won a 2-1 series against the Blue Jays. Luis Robert Jr. hit a two-run homer in game one against the Blue Jays, and Miguel Vargas hit a tie-breaking double in game three against the Blue Jays. As painful as the White Sox have been, they have their winning moments, similar to the Rockies. However, rumors have swirled around the team potentially trading Robert Jr. and Andrew Benintendi and cash to whoever will trade for them before the trade deadline on July 31.
28. Pittsburgh Pirates (Last week 26)

The Pirates had a rough week, losing their series to the Tigers and Rangers, respectively. Andrew McCutchen hit a home run and had an RBI in game three against the Tigers, and Tommy Pham went three for three and drove in three runs in game three against the Rangers. Although McCutchen surpassed Roberto Clemente for third on the Pirates’ all-time home run list earlier in the week, Dennis Santana was suspended for four games for taking a swing at a Tigers fan.
27. Miami Marlins (Last week 27)

The Marlins started the week on a rough note, losing a 1-3 divisional series against the Phillies, but won a 2-1 divisional series against the Braves. Eric Wagaman and Jesús Sánchez each hit homers in game two against the Phillies, and Agustín Ramírez hit a three-run home run against the Braves in game one. Although the Marlins played well against the Braves, they were outmatched by a much more talented Phillies team, which continued to expose the struggles they’ve had for most of the MLB season.
26. Athletics (Last week 28)

The Athletics had an okay week, which could’ve been better, as they split a four-game series against the Astros and lost a 1-2 series against the Guardians. Nick Kurtz hit a two-run home run in the 10th inning of game four against the Astros, and Nick Springs allowed three hits and six strikeouts in over seven strong innings against the Guardians in game one. Although the A’s had some shining moments from Kurtz in the week, the team must perform much better if they want to get themselves out of last place in the AL West.
25. Washington Nationals (Last week 25)

The Nationals had a rough week, losing a 1-3 series against the Rockies and a 1-2 series against the Dodgers. James Wood had two home runs, which helped the Nationals snap an 11-game losing streak in their game four win against the Rockies, and Nathaniel Lowe had two home runs in their 7-3 win against the Dodgers in game two. Outside of Wood and Lowe, the Nationals’ offense was very inconsistent during the week, and if they don’t pull it together, they could end up in last place in the NL East much sooner than we realize.
24. Baltimore Orioles (Last week 24)

The Orioles had a decent week, which could’ve been better, as they split a four-game series with the Rays and lost a tough 1-2 series against the Yankees. Jordan Westburg and Dylan Carlson both had three hits against the Rays in game two, and Ramón Urías hit a go-ahead solo home run to help the team get the win against the Yankees in game one. Although the Orioles tried to put up a fight against their MLB divisional rivals, they are now without Adley Rutschman and Tyler O’Neill, who are on the 10-day injured list.
23. Atlanta Braves (Last week 23)

The Braves started the week with an impressive sweep against their divisional rivals, the Mets, but lost a tough 1-2 divisional series against the Marlins. Chris Sale struck out seven batters in 8 ⅔ innings in game two against the Mets, and Ronald Acuña Jr. had an RBI, two hits, and scored three runs in the team’s game two win over the Marlins. As good as Sale has been on the mound, the Braves’ offense must improve, even though they swept the Mets with ease.
22. Minnesota Twins (Last week 17)

The Twins had a very brutal week, as they lost their series against the Reds and Brewers. Byron Buxton had two home runs in the team’s lone win in game three against the Reds, but the Twins’ offense struggled against strong pitchers and hasn’t been able to score in key moments during the week. The Twins should trade for a power hitter to help boost the offense out of their slump.
21. Los Angeles Angels (Last week 22)

The Angels started their week in the MLB off with a 3-1 series win over the Yankees on the road, but lost a tough 1-2 divisional series against the Astros at home. Nolan Schanuel hit a run-scoring double in game one against the Yankees, and José Soriano pitched 6 ⅔ effective innings against the Astros in game two. Even though the Angels took advantage of the Yankees, they couldn’t finish the job in their lost series against the Astros, despite some solid efforts by Christian Moore and Logan O’Hoppe.
20. Texas Rangers (Last week 20)

The Rangers started the week rough, by getting swept by the Royals, but bounced back and won a 2-1 series against the Pirates. Jacob deGrom struck out seven batters in six powerful innings against the Pirates in game one, and Corey Seager hit an RBI single for the tiebreaking run in game two against the Pirates. Despite the two wins against the slumping Pirates, the Rangers’ offense had trouble against the Royals’ pitchers and must rebound quickly.
19. Kansas City Royals (Last week 21)

The Royals started week 13 in the MLB very nicely, sweeping the Rangers, but lost a tough 1-2 series against the Padres. Salvador Perez hit two home runs and Bobby Witt Jr. hit a monster solo home run in game one against the Rangers, and Perez hit an RBI single for the winning run in game one against the Padres. The Royals did have a chance to win game three against the Padres, but they let a 2-0 lead slip away in the seventh inning. The Royals should bounce back from that tough loss.
18. Seattle Mariners (Last week 18)

The Mariners started their week on the losing side, dropping their series against the Red Sox, but rebounded with a 2-1 series win over the Cubs. Cal Raleigh hit a grand slam to help the Mariners defeat the Red Sox in game two, and Donovan Solano hit two home runs and drove in five runs in game three against the Cubs. Despite losing a tough series against the Red Sox at home, the team’s offense made it rain against the Cubs on the road, as they try to regain first place in the AL West.
17. Cleveland Guardians (Last week 19)

The Guardians had a very good week, winning their series against the Giants and Athletics, respectively. Daniel Schneeman hit a three-run home run against the Giants in game two, and Slade Cecconi struck out three batters in seven effective innings against the Athletics in game three. The Guardians’ offense has played very well in the week against a competitive Giants team, and their pitching has been good throughout the week as well.
16. Cincinnati Reds (Last week 15)

The Reds started week 13 in the MLB on a high note, winning a 2-1 series against the Twins, but lost a tough 1-2 divisional series against the Cardinals. Spencer Steer hit a two-run home run, and Andrew Abbott struck out three batters in seven commanding innings against the Cardinals in game three. The Reds have been playing well when it matters, and should continue to improve for a chance to compete with the Cardinals, Brewers, and Cubs in the NL Central.
15. Arizona Diamondbacks (Last week 16)

The Diamondbacks had a rough start to their week, losing a 1-2 series against the Blue Jays, but rebounded with a 2-1 series win over the Rockies. Eugenio Suárez hit a homer and had four RBI’s in game three against the Blue Jays, and Suárez hit two home runs in game one against the Rockies. Suárez and the D-Backs’ offense are a consistent hitting team so far in the season, but the team still has room for improvement in pitching and in the outfield.
14. Boston Red Sox (Last week 13)

The Red Sox had a nice start to the week, winning a 2-1 series against the Mariners, but lost a tough 1-2 series against the Giants on the road. Roman Anthony hit his first MLB career home run, and Lucas Giolito struck out 10 batters in six innings of game one against the Mariners, and Ceddanne Rafaela hit a tiebreaking home run in game one against the Giants. The Red Sox also kept their former star Rafael Devers hitless in game one against the Giants, but couldn’t keep up with the Giants’ offense in the rest of the series and dealt with defensive errors as well.
13. San Diego Padres (Last week 10)

The Padres lost a tough 1-3 divisional series against the Dodgers, but made up some lost ground in their 2-1 series win against the Royals. Xander Bogaerts homered in game four against the Dodgers, and Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a three-run home run against the Royals in game two. The Padres-Dodgers series saw some controversy, as closer Robert Suarez was suspended for three games for intentionally hitting Shohei Ohtani, although he tried to appeal the suspension. Either way, the rest of the team rebounded against the Royals after they dealt with a tough Dodgers pitching unit and offensive lineup.
12. Toronto Blue Jays (Last week 11)

The Blue Jays had a good start to their week 13 in the MLB, winning a 2-1 series against the Diamondbacks, but lost a 1-2 series against the White Sox. Bo Bichette had three hits, including a home run in game two against the D-Backs, and Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. each hit home runs in the team’s game two win over the White Sox. The Blue Jays almost had their series against the White Sox with a 2-1 lead in game three, but the White Sox’s bats got hot in the eighth inning, giving the Blue Jays a surprising loss this week in the MLB.
11. St. Louis Cardinals (Last week 14)

The Cardinals had a very nice week, sweeping the White Sox and winning a 2-1 series against the Reds. Brendan Donovan had four hits and Iván Herrera had four RBIs in game one against the White Sox, and Andre Pallante struck out four batters in six solid shutout innings against the Reds in game three. If the Cardinals keep playing very effective baseball from here on out, they can potentially be a very dangerous Wildcard team when it’s postseason time.
10. Milwaukee Brewers (Last week 12)

The Brewers had a nice week, splitting a shortened series against the Cubs and sweeping the Twins with ease. Isaac Collins hit a three-run home run in game two against the Cubs, and Jose Quintana had a strikeout in six scoreless innings. The Brewers and Cardinals are neck-and-neck for second place in the NL Central, but the Brewers have the upper hand, thanks to team improvements throughout the season and their high-powered offense leading the way.
9. San Francisco Giants (Last week 7)

The Giants started week 13 in the MLB on a negative note, losing a tough 1-2 series against the Guardians, but rebounded with a 2-1 series win over the Red Sox at home. Logan Webb struck out nine batters in seven powerful innings against the Guardians in game three, and Heliot Ramos had two hits and four RBIs in the team’s game three win over the Red Sox. The Giants’ offense woke up and took advantage of the Red Sox errors in game three, and Rafael Devers hit a home run against his former team in game two, which the Giants won.
8. Tampa Bay Rays (Last week 9)

The Rays had a very good week, splitting a four-game series against the Orioles and winning a 2-1 series against the Tigers. Ryan Pepiot struck out 11 batters in eight crisp innings of game one against the Orioles, and Junior Caminero, Danny Jansen, and Christopher Morel each had solo home runs in their game two win against the Tigers. The Rays are surging at an amazing time and must keep playing aggressive baseball if they want to capture first place in the AL East.
7. Houston Astros (Last week 8)

The Astros had a solid week, splitting a four-game series against the Athletics and winning a 2-1 series against the Angels. Cam Smith hit two home runs in game two against the Athletics, and Mauricio Dubón hit two home runs in game three against the Angels. The Astros’ hitters powered the team through a wild and intense week against MLB divisional opponents, and they must keep it up against their upcoming opponents throughout the summer.
6. New York Mets (Last week 2)

The Mets had themselves a very backward week, as they were swept by the Braves and lost a tough 1-2 series against their bitter rivals, the Phillies. Juan Soto and Brandon Nimmo each hit two home runs in the team’s game two win against the Phillies, but the rest of the team struggled and looked lifeless as the bullpen and offense couldn’t stay afloat in the beginning of the summer. Luis Torrens said through an interpreter, “It’s important to remain positive, to remain united. We know that situations like this are going to happen, but at the same time, it’s important to go out there and work.” The Mets must rebound from their ugly week against MLB divisional opponents immediately.
5. New York Yankees (Last week 5)

The Yankees had a brutal start to the week, losing a 1-3 series against the Angels, but made up lost ground in a 2-1 divisional series win over the Orioles. Trent Grisham and Paul Goldschmidt each hit back-to-back home runs in game four against the Angels, and Clarke Schmidt didn’t allow a hit in seven innings in game two, but was pulled out because of a rising pitch count. Despite the lost series against the Angels, Aaron Judge said, “You play 162, you’re gonna hit a little rut like this. But you can’t give up. You can’t mope about it.” The Yankees didn’t mope and earned a nice divisional series win against the Orioles to finish the week on a high note.
4. Chicago Cubs (Last week 3)

The Cubs had a bit of a tough week 13 in the MLB, splitting a shortened series with the Brewers and losing a tough 1-2 series against the Mariners. Seiya Suzuki and Pete Crow-Armstrong each homered against the Brewers in game one, and Ian Happ homered twice against the Mariners in game two. Despite Crow-Armstrong hitting his 20th home run in game two against the Brewers, the Cubs’ bullpen struggled and gave up 15 earned runs in 11 innings against the Mariners. The Cubs’ bullpen must pull it together for the summer months ahead.
3. Philadelphia Phillies (Last week 6)

The Phillies had a very nice, winning a 3-1 series against the Marlins and a 2-1 series against the Mets, giving them first place in the NL East. Trea Turner hit the team’s leadoff home run and had two singles in game one against the Marlins, and Kyle Schwarber and Edmundo Soso each had home runs in game three against the Mets. The Phillies have a very strong offensive stride to begin the summer, and the team must continue to keep the positive stride going to maintain control of first place in the NL East.
2. Los Angeles Dodgers (Last week 4)

The Dodgers had an impressive week, winning a 3-1 series against the Padres and a 2-1 series against the Nationals. Shohei Ohtani looked incredible on the pitcher’s mound despite giving up an early run in game one against the Padres, and he pitched a hitless inning while hitting a two-run home run in game three against the Nationals. Ohtani regaining his groove on the pitcher’s mound should strike fear in opposing batters, just as his offensive prowess should intimidate opposing MLB pitchers.
1. Detroit Tigers (Last week 1)

The Tigers won a 2-1 series against the Pirates but lost a tough 1-2 series against the Rays. Riley Greene had two hits and four RBIs in game two against the Pirates, while Wenceel Pérez and Parker Meadows each homered in game three against the Rays. Despite having the MLB’s best record, the Tigers experienced a three-game losing streak due to pitching struggles and injuries. However, the Tigers should rebound in the coming weeks as summer continues.
